Everything on this page was checked against the certification program's own FAQ and policies on 9 September 2026. The program has changed its rules more than once this year, so the date matters: if you are reading this months later, confirm the current rule on those pages before you act on it. Where this page reports what people have done rather than what the program states, it says so.
The rule
Two sentences carry the whole thing:
Certification is available to people at Claude Partner Network organizations. Registration requires a partner email address on a recognized company domain. Personal email addresses will not work.
So there are two gates, and they are the same gate seen twice. Your organization has to be in the Claude Partner Network, and the address you register with has to be on that organization's domain. A Gmail address does not get through no matter how good you are, and neither does a company address from a firm that is not a partner.
This is why experienced people who use Claude every day have never seen a booking page for these exams. It does not exist for them. The certifications were built as a partner program credential, and as of September 2026 they still are.
Who this locks out, and who it does not
Locked out, as the rule stands: freelancers and solo consultants with no partner relationship, employees of companies that use Claude but are not in the Partner Network, students, and anyone whose only address is personal.
Not locked out, though it can look that way:
- People at partner firms whose domain is not yet recognized. The firm is in the network, but the registration form rejects the address. The FAQ's answer is to email partner-support@anthropic.com; adding a domain takes 7 to 10 days. This is the single most common false alarm, and the fix is a form email, not a policy exception.
- People at large partners who did not know their employer was one. The public commitments run to tens of thousands of certifications at the big consultancies. If you work at one, your work address almost certainly qualifies, and there is a good chance your firm has a discount or an internal program you have not been told about. Ask before you pay.
- Contractors working inside a partner firm. If you have an address on the partner's domain, the rule is met. The program does not distinguish employees from contractors at registration; it looks at the domain.
The three routes independents use
None of these is a workaround. Each satisfies the published rule, just not through a traditional employer.
- Sponsorship by a partner you already work with. Partners have a reason to want certified people: certifications count toward standing in the partner program. A consultancy or agency you subcontract for can register you on their domain. This is the route the rest of this site has always described, and it is still the cleanest one, because the partner's incentive and yours point the same way.
- Contracting into a partner firm. People have reported, in community threads, being offered access by a partner company after asking publicly. That is a job or a contract, not a loophole, and it is not something the program arranges. It is worth knowing it happens.
- Joining the Partner Network yourself. Small firms do get accepted, and community reports include solo founders who cleared the initial review. The application has its own requirements, and reports suggest a minimum headcount is discussed at review. This page does not state those requirements because the program does not publish them in the certification FAQ. If you go this way, treat it as a business decision that happens to unlock the exam, not the other way round: a partnership you do not otherwise want is an expensive way to buy a $125 exam.
What does not work, and is not worth trying: registering with a personal address and hoping, or using a friend's partner domain. The name on your Pearson VUE profile has to match your government ID exactly at check-in, so the identity you register under is the identity that sits the exam.

The 50% partner discount is applied automatically at checkout, so you should not have to ask for it, but you should check the price on the payment screen before you pay. Through 31 December 2026, Global Premier partners pay nothing. Retakes cost the full fee each time, with the same discount applied.
What you get, and for how long
The credential is yours. The policy page is explicit: it belongs to you, not your employer, it comes with you if you change jobs, and a partner cannot hand it to someone else. The partner you registered through may be told your result and your certification status.
It is valid for 12 months from the day you earn it. Renewal is a free, open-book online assessment on the Partner Academy, which you can retake without limit, and passing it adds another 12 months from your current expiry date. If you let it lapse, you sit the full exam again at full price. A substantial change to an exam may also require passing the current version to keep the credential.
Once you register, the registration itself is valid for five years, and there is no deadline to schedule the sitting. So registering early does not commit you to a date.
Two more rules that surprise people
You have to be 18, and it is checked against a government-issued ID at check-in.
Where you are matters for online proctoring. OnVUE is not available in Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Russia, Syria or the restricted regions of Ukraine, and from 8 September 2026 the program suspended exam delivery for residents of Iran. Everyone else chooses between online proctoring and a Pearson VUE test center when scheduling.
Before you build a study plan
Do these in order, because the study plan is the cheap part and the gate is the slow part:
- Confirm your organization is a partner, or decide which of the three routes above you are taking.
- Try to register with your work address. If the domain is rejected, email partner-support@anthropic.com and expect 7 to 10 days.
- Check the price at checkout for the discount you are entitled to.
