Everything here was checked against the certification program's FAQ, its policies page, and Pearson VUE's program page on 9 September 2026. The exam-day rules belong to Pearson and can change; the timings below are the published ones on that date. If you are not sure you are eligible to register at all, start with who can take these exams.
1. Register on the Partner Academy
Registration happens on the Anthropic Partner Academy, signed in with your partner organization's address. You pay at the point of registration, and any partner discount is applied automatically at checkout, so look at the price before you confirm it. By registering you accept the certification terms, the exam policy and Anthropic's usage policy.
Two things to know before you click pay:
- A registration is valid for five years, and there is no deadline to sit. Registering does not commit you to a date. You schedule when you are ready.
- A cancellation refund is not automatic. Cancelling an appointment in Pearson's system frees the date. To get the fee back, you email certifications-support@anthropic.com. Keep that address; it comes up twice more on this page.
2. Wait for Pearson VUE
Pearson VUE delivers the exams. After you register, Pearson emails you scheduling instructions. If this is your first Pearson exam, that email includes your Pearson username and password. If you have sat a Pearson-delivered exam before, for any vendor, you use the account you already have.
This is the step where the name on your account is set, and the name is the rule that forfeits the most fees. See step 4 before you do anything else.
3. Choose online or a test center
You have two delivery options:
- OnVUE, online proctored. You sit at home or in an office, on your own machine, watched by a proctor over webcam. You need a private room and a stable connection. Anthropic and Pearson may record the session.
- A Pearson VUE test center. In person, on their machine.
OnVUE is not available everywhere. Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, Russia, Syria and restricted regions of Ukraine are excluded, and the program suspended delivery for residents of Iran from 8 September 2026. If you are in one of those places, or you simply do not have a room you can guarantee will be private and quiet for two hours, book the test center.
If you choose OnVUE, run Pearson's system test on the machine and network you will actually use, well before exam day. It checks, among other things, that your network can reach the domains the exam needs (*.onvue.com, *.pearsonvue.com, *.starttest.com and a list of others). A corporate laptop behind a strict proxy is the classic failure, and exam morning is a bad time to find out.
If you need accommodations, request them through Pearson before you schedule. Pearson reviews and administers them, and they do not affect scoring.
4. Make the name match your ID, exactly
This is the rule to read twice.
The name on your Pearson VUE profile must match your government-issued ID exactly. If it does not, Pearson VUE will not allow you to test, and per their policy the exam fee is forfeited.
"Exactly" means exactly: a middle name on the ID and not on the profile, a hyphen, an accent, a nickname you registered under. Check the Pearson profile against the physical document you will hand to the proctor.
If they differ, email certifications-support@anthropic.com with the subject line Name Correction Request, at least 24 hours before your scheduled exam. Inside 24 hours you are relying on goodwill that the policy does not promise.
You also have to be 18, verified against that same ID at check-in.
5. Reschedule or cancel, if you must, 48 hours out
Rescheduling and cancellation are free up to 48 hours before the appointment. Inside 48 hours, or if you miss the appointment, the fee is forfeited. Cancelling inside the window and rebooking later means paying again.
You reschedule in your Pearson account. If you cancel outright and want the money back, that is the email to certifications-support@anthropic.com again; Pearson's cancellation on its own only releases the slot.
6. Sit the exam
All four exams are proctored and multiple choice, with 120 minutes and a passing score of 720 on a scale of 100 to 1000. There is no per-domain minimum, so a weak domain can be carried by the rest.

Exam content is confidential. The policy prohibits sharing, reproducing or discussing questions in any form, and it names study groups and online forums specifically. That is the rule behind everything this site says about dumps: a site selling "real questions" is asking you to break the terms you accepted at registration, and the consequences run from an invalidated result to a bar from the program.
Prohibited conduct is defined in the exam policy and Pearson's own testing rules, which Pearson sends you with the scheduling instructions. Read them; the online-proctoring rules about what may be on the desk and in the room are stricter than people expect.
7. After the result
If you passed: the badge is issued through Credly. Credly emails you an invitation to claim it. Badge problems go to Credly support, not to Pearson or Anthropic. You cannot retake a passed exam to improve the score.
If you did not: the waiting periods are 14 days after a first failure, 30 after a second and 90 after a third, with at most four attempts per exam in any rolling 12 months. The counts are per exam, and they reset if the exam version changes. Every attempt costs the full fee, with the same partner discount applied. If you think the result is wrong: you can appeal through Pearson support within 14 days of the exam date. That covers a fail you believe should be a pass, including a faulty question. If a question is confirmed faulty, the remedy is a free retake, not a changed score. Reporting a question you think is wrong, unclear or off-guide is a separate thing from an appeal, anyone can do it whether they passed or failed, and it never counts against you.
8. Twelve months later
The credential is valid for 12 months from the day you earned it. Renewal is a free, open-book online assessment on the Partner Academy, which you can retake as often as you need, and passing it extends the certification another 12 months from the current expiry. Let it lapse and the only way back is the full exam at full price. A substantial update to an exam may also require passing the current version to keep the credential.
The credential is yours, not your employer's. It comes with you if you change jobs, and a partner cannot reassign it. The partner you registered through may see your result and status.
The four places people lose money, in one list
- A Pearson profile name that does not match the ID. Fee forfeited, no exam.
- Rescheduling or cancelling inside 48 hours, or a no-show. Fee forfeited.
- Cancelling in Pearson and waiting for a refund that only arrives if you email certifications-support@anthropic.com.
- A failed OnVUE system test on exam morning, usually a corporate proxy. Not a forfeit if you catch it early; a reschedule inside 48 hours if you do not.
